Sculpture at Parasvnath Temple

It was a first to receive a postcard coming from India and Col. Akhil send me the card for the Postcrossing Enthusiasts UNESCO September General Swap. Thank you, Col. Akhil for inviting me to visit your incredible India. I find your country really interesting! ^_^
india
According to his message for me, the 9th to 12th century temples of Khakuraho is the evidences of the architectural geniuses during the times of Chandela dynasty. Situated in Madhya Pradesh,India,Khajurahoo oozes with passion, eroticism, dance and music and other finesses of creative arts depicted in sculpture and images of the temples. The 85 temples were built in North Indian ‘Nagara’ style of architecture, though only 20 of them have survived the rough weather conditions over long years of time.

Cologne Cathedral, Germany

A big thanks to Michael E. for the magnificent Cologne Cathedral he sent me for the Postcrossing Enthusiast UNESCO September General Swap which I joined and it was like catching bird with one net because aside from collecting UNESCO WHS postcards, I’m also into Cathedral collection and the postcard he sent me is perfect and I like the reflecting sytle of it! And oh, the postcard is almost a maxi! ^_^
unesco

Cologne Cathedral (German: Kölner Dom, officially Hohe Domkirche St. Peter und Maria, English: High Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Mary) is a Roman Catholic church in Cologne, Germany. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Cologne (currently Cardinal Joachim Meisner), and is under the administration of the Archdiocese of Cologne. It is renowned as a monument of Christianity, of German Catholicism in particular, of Gothic architecture and of the continuing faith and perseverance of the people of the city in which it stands. It is dedicated to Saint Peter and the Blessed Virgin Mary. The cathedral is a World Heritage Site, one of the best-known architectural monuments in Germany, and Cologne’s most famous landmark, described by UNESCO as an “exceptional work of human creative genius”.[1] It is Germany’s most visited landmark, attracting an average of 20,000 people a day.[2]

Construction of Cologne Cathedral began in 1248 and took, with interruptions, until 1880 to complete. It is 144.5 metres (474 ft) long, 86.5 m (284 ft) wide and its towers are approximately 157 m (515 ft) tall.[3] The cathedral is one of the world’s largest churches and the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe. For four years, 1880–84, it was the tallest structure in the world, until the completion of the Washington Monument. It has the second-tallest church spires, only surpassed by the single spire of Ulm Minster, completed 10 years later in 1890. Because of its enormous twin spires, it also presents the largest façade of any church in the world. The choir of the cathedral, measured between the piers, also holds the distinction of having the largest height to width ratio of any medieval church, 3.6:1, exceeding even Beauvais Cathedral which has a slightly higher vault.[4]

Cologne’s medieval builders had planned a grand structure to house the reliquary of the Three Kings and fit its role as a place of worship for the Holy Roman Emperor. Despite having been left incomplete during the medieval period, Cologne Cathedral eventually became unified as “a masterpiece of exceptional intrinsic value” and “a powerful testimony to the strength and persistence of Christian belief in medieval and modern Europe”.[1]Source

Dr. Sun Yat-sen= the Founding Father of the R.O.C.

Sun Yat-sen (12 November 1866 – 12 March 1925)[1] was a Chinese doctor, revolutionary and political leader. As the foremost pioneer of Nationalist China, Sun is frequently referred to as the “Father of the Nation” (國父), a view agreed upon by both the People’s Republic of China[2] and the Republic of China.[3] Sun played an instrumental role in the overthrow of the Qing dynasty during the Xinhai Revolution. Sun was the first provisional president when the Republic of China was founded in 1912 and later co-founded the Kuomintang (KMT) where he served as its first leader.[4] Sun was a uniting figure in post-Imperial China, and remains unique among 20th century Chinese politicians for being widely revered amongst the people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Although Sun is considered one of the greatest leaders of modern China, his political life was one of constant struggle and frequent exile. After the success of the revolution, he quickly fell out of power in the newly founded Republic of China, and led successive revolutionary governments as a challenge to the warlords who controlled much of the nation. Sun did not live to see his party consolidate its power over the country during the Northern Expedition. His party, which formed a fragile alliance with the Communists, split into two factions after his death. Sun’s chief legacy resides in his developing a political philosophy known as the Three Principles of the People: nationalism, democracy, and the people’s livelihood.[5]

COACH Poppy Bandanna Glitter Tote Bag

It’s nice to receive a gift even though it’s not your birthday ~ my husband surprised me with a new pink Coach bag when he comes home from work months ago. I asked why, it’s not my birthday… he said that he passed by at the mall and when he saw the pink bag, he knows that I’m gonna love it and there’s no need to have an occasion to give gifts. I imagined my husband shopping a bag for me at store, sweet! ^_^

Doumo, Siracusa

siracusa

I feel so very lucky to have this postcard from Italy given by Guiseppe, a new pal in Postcrossing Enthusiast group. I’m into a single view Cathedral postcards collection and the Doumo (Cathedral) of Syracuse is just perfect! Syracuse is a UNESCO World Heritage Site by the way…
When the postcard reached to my mailbox, I was amazed by the structure of the cathedral~ fell in love with it! Thank you very much, Guiseppe for sending one of the most beautiful squares in the world! ^_^

The Cathedral was built by bishop Zosimo in the 7th century over the great Temple of Athena (5th century BC), on the Ortygia island. This was a Doric edifice with six columns on the short sides and 14 on the long ones: these can still be seen incorporated in the walls of the current church. The base of the Greek edifice had three steps. The interior of the church has a nave and two aisles. The roof of the nave is from Norman times, as well as the mosaics in the apses. The façade was rebuilt by Andrea Palma in 1725–1753, with a double order of Corinthian columns, and statues by Ignazio Marabitti. The most interesting pieces of the interior are a font with marble basin (12th–13th century), a silver statue of St. Lucy by Pietro Rizzo (1599), a ciborium by Luigi Vanvitelli, and a statue of the Madonna della Neve (“Madonna of the Snow”, 1512) by Antonello Gagini.

Paoay Church

p church
I never thought Ciel of Postcard Journeys would give me this historical church postcard! Ciel says that the Paoay Church is made of coral stones, baked bricks, salbot (tree sap) and lumber. During the Philippine Revolution, its coral stone bell tower was used by the katipuneros as an observation post. Thank you, sistah Ciel!!

Paoay Church is the Roman Catholic parish church of the municipality of Paoay, Ilocos Norte in the Philippines. Completed in 1710, the church is famous for its distinct architecture highlighted by the enormous buttresses on the sides and back of the building. In 1993, the church was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as one best examples of the Baroque Churches of the Philippines.

Paoay church is prime example of Earthquake Baroque architecture, which is the Philippine interpretation of the European Baroque adapted to the seismic condition of the country. Destructive earthquakes are common and have destroyed earlier churches all throughout the country.[1] Aside from Baroque, the church facade also exudes Javanese architecture reminiscent of Borobudur of Java.[2]

Typical Bavarian Costume

During the past few months of joining Postcrossing, I have been blessed to have a couple of postcrossing pals and we’ve been exchanging postcards since then. Michael is from South Germany, one of my postcrossing pals and whenever I received a postcard from him, I almost cried with his messages for me. I will post the first two postcards that I received from him and I find the children in German traditional clothing very cute and the stamps, soo nice too ^_^

Tracht is a traditional national costume in German-speaking countries. Although the word is most often associated with Austrian and Bavarian costumes, many other peoples of Germany have them.

In the 19th century, Trentham, at Stoke-on-Trent, was a centre of gardening experimentation, led by the greatest names in British landscape gareden design. Now this 750-acre estate is being restored to its former glory after years of neglect. As well as the formal gardens, Trentham comprises some of the oldest forests in England.

Sandugo Festival

sandugo

I would like to thank Mommy Ruth from Thailand for giving me this Sandugo Festival postcard. Her maternal family is from Bohol, Philippines and now living in Thailand. It’s always a great joy to send a postcard to her and to her homeschoolers for their Postcard Exchange Project and loves to receive postcards from them in return ^_^

The Sandugo Festival is an annual historical celebration that takes place every year in Tagbilaran City on the island of Bohol in the Philippines. This festival commemorates the Treaty of Friendship between Datu Sikatuna, a chieftain in Bohol, and Spanish conquistador Miguel López de Legazpi. This 16th Century peace treaty occurred on March 16, 1565 through a blood compact or “sandugo”.[1][2]

The Sandugo Festival is held every July. The Tagbilaran City Charter Day on July 1 kicks-off the month-long festival with a holy mass, diana, motorcade and program sponsored by the City Government of Tagbilaran. Among the major activities during the month is the Miss Bohol Sandugo Beauty Pageant, and the Sandugo Street Dancing Competition which is usually held on the 3rd or 4th Sunday of July, and organized by the Bohol Sandugo Foundation, Inc. (BSFI).

The Minnesota State Capitol is located in Minnesota’s capital city, Saint Paul, and houses the Minnesota Senate, Minnesota House of Representatives, the Office of the Attorney General and the Office of the Governor. The building also includes a chamber for the Minnesota Supreme Court, although court activities usually take place in the neighboring Minnesota Judicial Center.
The building is set in a landscaped campus. Various monuments are to its sides and front. Behind, a bridge spans University Avenue, and in front others were later added over the sunken roadway of Interstate 94, thus preserving the sight lines. Set near the crest of a hill, from the Capitol steps a panoramic view of downtown St. Paul is presented

This awesome postcard is from fellow Postcrossing Enthusiasts Gene of Wandering Gene It is Jose Rizal Execution diorama, hero of the Philippines. It is one of the place I wanted to visit in the Philippines, I hope to be there one day. Thank you very much sistah Gene!

Dr. Jose Rizal (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896, Bagumbayan), was a Filipino polymath, patriot and the most prominent advocate for reforms in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era. He is regarded as the foremost Filipino patriot and listed as one of the national heroes of the Philippines by National Heroes Committee,[2] and the anniversary of Rizal’s death is commemorated as a Philippine holiday called Rizal Day. Rizal’s 1896 military trial and execution at the age of thirty five, made him a martyr of the Philippine Revolution.

Syracuse New York Postcard

new york

Thanks to Mommy Mel of Hearts Content Of A Mama for this beautiful postcard from Syracuse. I’m so grateful coz even though her hands full tending with her new bundle of joy, she sent me this postcard. Thank you very much, Mommy Mel!

Syracuse New York

Syracuse ( /ˈsɪrəkjuːs/ or local /ˈsɛrəkjuːs/)[1] is a city in and the county seat of Onondaga County, New York, United States,[2] the largest U.S. city with the name “Syracuse”, and the fifth most populous city in the state.[3] At the 2010 census, the city population was 145,170, (making it the 170th largest city in the country) and its metropolitan area had a population of 742,603. It is the economic and educational hub of Central New York, a region with over a million inhabitants. Syracuse is also well-provided with convention sites, with a downtown convention complex and, directly west of the city, the Empire Expo Center, which hosts the annual Great New York State Fair. The city derives its name from Siracusa, a city on the eastern coast of the Italian island of Sicily.

The city has functioned as a major crossroads over the last two centuries, first between the Erie Canal and its branch canals, then of the railway network. Today, Syracuse is located at the intersection of Interstates 81 and 90, and its airport is the largest in the region. Syracuse is home to Syracuse University, a major research university, as well as several smaller colleges and professional schools. In 2010 Forbes rated Syracuse 4th in the top 10 places to raise a family.[4]

A Picture Of A Diorama In A Museum

netherland

I received this as my official postcard from Netherland through Postcrossing and I really love the postcard because of the vintage look. The sender is the first one who welcomed me as newbie at postcrossing ^_^
He says that this is a picture of a diorama in a museum ~100 years ago women used to go the “wadden zee”(wadden sea) to catch lugworms in the mud flat.

The word diorama can either refer to a nineteenth century mobile theatre device, or, in modern usage, a three-dimensional full-size or miniature model, sometimes enclosed in a glass showcase for a museum. Dioramas are often built by hobbyists as part of related hobbies such as military vehicle modeling, miniature figure modeling, or aircraft modeling.

Geography
Finland is a country of thousands of lakes and islands – 187,888 lakes (larger than 500 m2/0.12 acre) and 179,584 islands.[31] Its largest lake, Saimaa, is the fourth largest in Europe. The Finnish landscape is mostly flat with few hills and fewer mountains. Its highest point, the Halti at 1,324 metres (4,344 ft), is found in the extreme north of Lapland at the border between Finland and Norway. The highest mountain, its peak being in Finland, is Ridnitsohkka at 1,316 m (4,318 ft), directly adjacent to Halti.

Finland lies between latitudes 59° and 71° N, and longitudes 20° and 32° E.

Forest covers 86% of the country’s area,[32] the largest forested area in Europe. The forest consists of pine, spruce, birch, larch and other species. Finland is the largest producer of wood in Europe and among the largest in the world.

The landscape is covered mostly (seventy-five percent of land area) by coniferous taiga forests and fens, with little arable land. The most common type of rock is granite. It is a ubiquitous part of the scenery, visible wherever there is no soil cover. Moraine or till is the most common type of soil, covered by a thin layer of humus of biological origin. Podzol profile development is seen in most forest soils except where drainage is poor. Gleysols and peat bogs occupy poorly drained areas. The greater part of the islands are found in the southwest in the Archipelago Sea, part of the archipelago of the Åland Islands, and along the southern coast in the Gulf of Finland.

Finland is one of the few countries in the world whose surface area is still expanding. Owing to the post-glacial rebound that has been taking place since the last ice age, the surface area of the country is expanding by about 7 square kilometres (2.7 sq mi) annually.[33]

The distance from the southernmost – Hanko – to the northernmost point in the country – Nuorgam – is 1,160 kilometres (720 mi).

The World Of Peter Rabbit Postal Stamp

peter rabbit

Japan Post celebrates the spring season by the issuance of “Peter Rabbit” stamps commemorating the 40th anniversary since the book was published in Japan. This is one of my stamp collections that I let go because of a dear friend~ I wanted her to receive the stamp (plus goodies)from me. I hope I made her smile because of this ^_^

The Tale of Peter Rabbit is a children’s book written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter that follows mischievous and disobedient young Peter Rabbit as he is chased about the garden of Mr. McGregor. He escapes and returns home to his mother who puts him to bed after dosing him with camomile tea. The tale was written for five-year-old Noel Moore, son of Potter’s former governess Annie Carter Moore, in 1893. It was revised and privately printed by Potter in 1901 after several publishers’ rejections but was printed in a trade edition by Frederick Warne & Co. in 1902. The book was a success, and multiple reprints were issued in the years immediately following its debut. It has been translated into 36 languages[1] and with 45 million copies sold it is one of the best-selling books of all time.[2]

The book has generated considerable merchandise over the decades since its release for both children and adults with toys, dishes, foods, clothing, videos and other products made available. Potter was one of the first to be responsible for such merchandise when she patented a Peter Rabbit doll in 1903 and followed it almost immediately with a Peter Rabbit board game.

By making the hero of the tale a disobedient and rebellious little rabbit, Potter subverted her era’s definition of the good child and the literary hero genre which typically followed the adventures of a brave, resourceful, young white male. Peter Rabbit appeared as a character in a 1971 ballet film, and the tale has been adapted to an animated television series.

Estonian National Symbols

estonia

I received my first postcard from Postcrossing and it came from TK of Estonia! It travelled for 7,709 km in for days, it came with an envelope ^_^ She lives in Estonia, 4 km from Gulf of Finland, in a small mining town Kohtla-Järve and a nurse. I almost cried to read her message for me:

Hang on, you’re strong people and we are always ready to help.

Thank you very much, TK! ^_^
estonia

National bird
The barn swallow, the national bird, is a characteristic guest of Estonian homes. Its call can be heard from practically every eave or barn rafter in the country. If the bird finds a suitable opening, under the ridge of a roof or a broken window, it will build its cup-shaped nest; it will even build it inside a house. The choice of the barn swallow as a national bird was mainly the result of a campaign conducted by ornithologists at the beginning of the sixties.

National flower
Blue cornflowerSee also: Cornflower
The campaign to choose a national flower was organized by The Estonian Wildlife Protection Society. The televised contest was carried out in 1967-68. The ornamental blue cornflower was the favourite. In choosing it, several considerations were taken into account: general popularity, decorative appearance, easy applicability as an artistic motif, and domestic origin.

The cornflower has grown on Estonian soil for more than 10,000 years, from the time when the first humans came to Northern Europe. The plant grows commonly in rye fields, creating a strong connection in the minds of Estonians between the flower and their daily bread. The blossoms of the cornflower have a particularly striking graphic appearance which has led to its use by artists for decorative purposes. The cornflower is also part of the young girls’ festive garland. It is possible that the cornflower was chosen as the national flower in 1968 for another important reason. People knew that the blue of the then forbidden Estonian flag was defined as “cornflower blue”. This made the cornflower a symbol of resistance in its own way. The Soviet authorities, in a move that is nowadays quite difficult to believe, responded by banning representations of the cornflower. Thus, at the 100th anniversary of the Estonian Song Festival (1969), all the cornflowers used as decorations were painted over with red and presented as “carnations”.

National stone
Estonian national stone is the country’s valuable grey limestone. Estonia lies on a thick layer of limestone which is visible on the steep banks of northern and western Estonia. Most castles, churches, farm buildings, and countless stone fences are made of limestone. Research on limestone and its well-preserved fossils has for centuries brought Estonian scientists international renown. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why numerous scientists supported the declaration of limestone as the national stone of Estonia.

Fun at  Poke My Birthday

11. January.1976, Sunday, ( your birthday -310 days):
On 11.January.1976, Sunday, your father has produced the semen that will be half of you soon.

He produced 1000 sperms every second of his life and you will be be lucky one out of 500 million sperm he sent on their way in the conceivement. You may find interesting to know that if he had drunk (or not drunk) coffee on this Sunday morning, you might born completely as someone else (for instance in the opposite sex) as kafein changes the speed of male sperms.
26.January.1976,Monday(Your birthday-295 days):
Today your mother ad her last menstrual cycle and started building up the egg, that will be the other half of you.

After today, she will not have this cycle again for a very long time (thanks to you!). She spent Monday as moody, anxious, short-tempered and you should be glad, you were not around her that day!
10.February.1976, Tuesday (Your birthday -280 days):
Your mother’s egg is ready to build the other half of you and your father and your mother got together to make you.

But there is still no “you” around so don’t get excited much. It can take several hours for your father’s sperm to reach your mother’s egg and now it is just on its way out.
11.February.1976, Wednesday (Your birthday -279 days):
Out of 500 million sperm on their way to your mother’s egg, the sperm which built you has won the race by coming first and the sperm and the egg is became one to make your very first cell. Do you see how lucky your half (the sperm) be by winning coming up first among 500 million other rivals? Never tell you are not lucky anymore!

We can call Wednesday, 11.February.1976 as your “first day alive” because this is when you are a living entity, an embryo, congratulations! Although you are just a 1 cell creature today your unique DNA is also formed so your future destiny like your sex, height, physical apperance, intelligence, characteristic and vulnability to certain dissesases is already been determined.

And here’s some interesting fact about my life:

Your lucky days are Tuesday (Conceivement date, Your parents decided to not to have an abortion, You were born) and Wednesday (Your first cell is built, Your mother suspects she is pregnant, Your heart beat for the first time).
You are exactly 34 years 34 weeks 2 days 20 hours 58 minutes 39 seconds old.

Kingdom Of Cambodia

I would like to give thanks to Mommy Cheerful of Postcrossing Mom for sending me the Phnom Penh postcard and yes Cambodia is trully a Kingdom of Wonders! The multiview postcard featured the Independence Monument, National Museum, Wat Phnom, Royal Palace and Central Market. The history, the culture, the people~ it seems like they’re all a mystery to me and I guess I still have to study more about Cambodia ^_^

Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh (Khmer: ភ្នំពេញ, pronounced [pʰnum peːɲ] in Khmer and /pəˈnɒm ˈpɛn/ or /ˈnɒm ˈpɛn/ in English[2]) is the capital and largest city of Cambodia. Located on the banks of the Mekong River, Phnom Penh has been the national capital since the French colonized Cambodia, and has grown to become the nation’s center of economic and industrial activities, as well as the center of security, politics, economics, cultural heritage, and diplomacy of Cambodia.

Once known as the “Pearl of Asia”, it was considered one of the loveliest French-built cities in Indochina[3] in the 1920s. Phnom Penh, along with Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, are significant global and domestic tourist destinations for Cambodia. Founded in 1434, the city is noted for its beautiful and historical architecture and attractions. There are a number of surviving French colonial buildings scattered along the grand boulevards.

Situated on the banks of the Tonlé Sap, Mekong and Bassac rivers, the Phnom Penh metropolitan area is home to more than 2 million of Cambodia’s population of over 14 million.[4] The city is the wealthiest and most populous city in Cambodia and is home to the country’s political hub.

Masskara Festival Postcard

Thanks to Mommy Shengkay of Postcard Lover for sending me the colourful Masskara Festival postcard of The City of Smiles in Visayas~ Bacolod City, Philippines! My province is near to Bacolod but I haven’t seen the Masskara Festival myself. I wish to travel Bacolod someday^_^ ( click the image for a larger view, thanks)

History

The festival first began in 1980 during a period of crisis. The province relied on sugar cane as its primary agricultural crop, and the price of sugar was at an all-time low due to the introduction of sugar substitutes like high fructose corn syrup in the United States.[1] It was also a time of tragedy; on April 22 of that year, the inter-island vessel Don Juan carrying many Negrenses, including those belonging to prominent families in Bacolod City, collided with the tanker Tacloban City and sank. An estimated 700 lives were lost in the tragedy.[2]

In the midst of these tragic events, the city’s artists, local government and civic groups decided to hold a festival of smiles, because the city at that time was also known as the City of Smiles. They reasoned that a festival was also a good opportunity to pull the residents out of the pervasive gloomy atmosphere. The initial festival was therefore, a declaration by the people of the city that no matter how tough and bad the times were, Bacolod City is going to pull through, survive, and in the end, triumph.

The MassKara Festival is a festival held each year in Bacolod City, the capital of Negros Occidental province in the Philippines every third weekend of October nearest October 19, the city’s Charter Inauguration Anniversary.

( please click the image for a larger view, thanks )

Taal Volcano

Taal Volcano is a complex volcano on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. Historical eruptions are concentrated on Volcano Island, an island near the middle of Lake Taal. The lake partially fills Taal Caldera, which was formed by powerful prehistoric eruptions. Viewed from Tagaytay Ridge, Taal Volcano and Lake presents one of the most picturesque and attractive views in the Philippines.[1] It is located about 50 km (31 miles) south of the capital of the country, the city of Manila.

The volcano had several violent eruptions in the past causing loss of life in the island and the populated areas surrounding the lake, with the death toll estimated at around 5,000 to 6,000. Because of its proximity to populated areas and its eruptive history, the volcano was designated a Decade Volcano, worthy of close study to prevent future natural disasters. It is one of the active volcanoes in the Philippines and part of the Pacific ring of fire.

The Alamo Postcard

I’d like to thank Mommy Dhemz of World Exploration for the awesome Alamo postcard!  The Alamo, San Antonio Texas ~ where Texas procured her freedom and became a Republic~

Originally named Mission San Antonio de Valero, the Alamo served as home to missionaries and their Indian converts for nearly seventy years. Construction began on the present site in 1724. In 1793, Spanish officials secularized San Antonio’s five missions and distributed their lands to remaining Indian residents. These men and women continued to farm the fields, once the mission’s but now their own, and participated in the growing community of San Antonio.

Battle of the Alamo

The Battle of the Alamo (February 23 – March 6, 1836) was a pivotal event in the Texas Revolution. Following a 13-day siege, Mexican troops under President General Antonio López de Santa Anna launched an assault on the Alamo Mission near San Antonio de Béxar (modern-day San Antonio, Texas). All but two of the Texian defenders were killed. Santa Anna’s perceived cruelty during the battle inspired many Texians—both Texas settlers and adventurers from the United States—to join the Texian Army. Buoyed by a desire for revenge, the Texians defeated the Mexican Army at the Battle of San Jacinto, on April 21, 1836, ending the revolution.

Several months prior, Texians had driven all Mexican troops out of Mexican Texas. Approximately 100 Texians were then garrisoned at the Alamo. The Texian force grew slightly with the arrival of reinforcements led by eventual Alamo co-commanders James Bowie and William B. Travis. On February 23, approximately 1,500 Mexican troops marched into San Antonio de Béxar as the first step in a campaign to re-take Texas. For the next 12 days the two armies engaged in several skirmishes with minimal casualties. Aware that his garrison could not withstand an attack by such a large force, Travis wrote multiple letters pleading for more men and supplies, but fewer than 100 reinforcements arrived.

In the early morning hours of March 6, the Mexican Army advanced on the Alamo. After repulsing two attacks, Texians were unable to fend off a third attack. As Mexican soldiers scaled the walls, most of the Texian soldiers withdrew into interior buildings. Defenders unable to reach these points were slain by the Mexican cavalry as they attempted to escape. Between five and seven Texians may have surrendered; if so, they were quickly executed. Most eyewitness accounts reported between 182 and 257 Texians dead, while most historians of the Alamo agree that 400–600 Mexicans were killed or wounded. Several noncombatants were sent to Gonzales to spread word of the Texian defeat. The news sparked a panic and the Texian army, most settlers, and the new Republic of Texas government fled from the advancing Mexican Army.

Within Mexico, the battle has often been overshadowed by events from the Mexican–American War of 1846–48. In 19th-century Texas, the Alamo complex gradually became known as a battle site rather than a former mission. The Texas Legislature purchased the land and buildings in the early part of the 20th century and designated the Alamo chapel as an official Texas State Shrine. The Alamo is now “the most popular tourist site in Texas”.[1] The Alamo has been the subject of numerous non-fiction works beginning in 1843. Most Americans, however, are more familiar with the myths spread by many of the movie and television adaptations,[2] including the 1950s Disney miniseries Davy Crockett and John Wayne’s 1960 film The Alamo

Shiro

Meet Shiro, I don’t know his breeding but I guess he’s a plain japanese dog and his color is indeed brown but his name is Shiro~white in english. He was named by Haruka and when we asked us her why Shiro, she said it fits him daw LOL! He’s a member in the family in Namie but we haven’t seen him for 3 months already and we don’t even know if he’s still alive or what. I guess you have heard already about the radiation threaths in Fukushima and since Namie is 20 km near the nuclear plant, my PIL has no choice but to leave him because they don’t want to be the cause of the inconvenience coz they will be living at the evacuation center temporarily that time. My PIL has a ‘temporary home’ right now in Koriyama but still they can’t go home in Namie because of the radiation~ the hometown of my husband is inside the exclusion zone around the nuclear plant.
We really miss Shiro! (T_T)

White Day Gift

I’m thankful of my loving husband for giving me surprise gift on the White Day. I guess some of you knew already the culture here in Japan that during the Valentine’s Day, the girls will be the one giving gifts ( usually chocolates ) to men and on the March 14, it’ll be the the time for the girls to shine~ it’s the guys turn to give something back ^_^

Something happened last March 11,2011 here in Japan and when I opened up our cabinet to get some clothes to prepare for evacuation, I was surprised to see his gift for me. It was neatly wrapped although there’s some stuffs over it, I guess because of the intensity of the earthquake. I should be happy but I my mind wasn’t to it and the gift wasn’t appreciated. Of course, I feel sorry and thank my husband afterwards~ after coming back from the evacuation center, it was the only time I opened his gift to me… A Guess bag and a brown jacket from Comme Ca Ism for spring.

Fashionable Sandals For Summer

Nope, they’re not mine but a gift to my Mother ( 2nd pic ) and to my teen-ager Clarence Claire ( 1st pic ) in the Philippines~ I’m still looking for a simple footwear for me this summer, it might be another sneaker lol!

Provinces and territories of Canada

The provinces and territories of Canada combine to make up the world’s second-largest country by area. There are ten provinces and three territories. The major difference between a Canadian province and a territory is that provinces are jurisdictions that receive their power and authority directly from the Constitution Act, 1867, whereas territories derive their mandates and powers from the federal government. In modern Canadian constitutional theory the provinces are considered to be co-sovereign divisions of the monarchy, and each province has its own “Crown” represented by the lieutenant-governor, whereas the territories are not sovereign and are simply parts of the federal realm, and have a commissioner.
The ten provinces are Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan, while the three territories are Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon.

Growing Up Too Soon

My kids are growing like weeds~ Wakaba’s size size is now 130 cm. and for her shoe size is 20 cm while Haruka’s size is now 110 cm and her shoe size is 16 cm. Geez! Our pockets hurt badly to buy two sets of sneakers and clothings for each child in such a short period of time.

Leg Magic Exercise Machine

I bought this thing ( lol ) online at x@&$#*.com with the flow of TV commercials. I tried the machine and then stopped working out. The machine works with your thighs, butt and legs but I cannot do more than a minute at a time and believe me, it’s harder than it looks! It’s a compact size kind of machine and is easy to use. You can do the gliding motions while watching the TV or listening to music. I could feel the burning in my thights most especially the inner thigh muscles~ it’s just that when my body starts to ache, I’m toooo lazy to continue the exercise lol! Well maybe next week, I’ll start (again) regularly ^_^

Girl’s Talk–Favorite Summer Outfit

I wish I could wear sundresses during the summer but a simple T-shirt, capri pants and or denim shorts  and a sandal is the most comfortable to me. Here in Japan, wearing a Summer Yukata  is common summer outfit most especially on festivals like Tanabata Festival and Hanabi(firework) Festival and although dressing a yukata takes a lot of practice, I enjoyed wearing it most especially that there’s a handy “ tsuke obi ” ( ready tied obi )  to make it more easier even without assistance. All you have to do is wrap the obi ( sash ) around your waist and then place the pre-tied bow in the back and tuck the strings neatly hidden under the sash. Can’t wait for the summer to come and wear my red summer yukata! ^_^

Girl’s Talk–Thank You For Loving Me

There were times when pressures in life just came unexpectedly that I really want to give up because it seems that I cannot handle it any longer. Yochan were never tired of loving me, for forgiving me when I did something wrong. I wanna say thanks to my husband for loving me ^_^

It´s hard for me to say the things
I want to say sometimes
There´s no one here but you and me
And that broken old street light
Lock the doors
leave the world outside
All I´ve got to give to you
Are these five words when I

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn´t see
For parting my lips
When I couldn´t breathe
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me

I never knew I had a dream
Until that dream was you
When I look into your eyes
The sky´s a different blue
Cross my heart
I wear no disguise
If I tried, you´d make believe
That you believed my lies

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn´t see
For parting my lips
When I couldn´t breathe
Thank you for loving me

You pick me up when I fall down
You ring the bell before they count me out
If I was drowning you would part the sea
And risk your own life to rescue me

Lock the doors
leave the world outside
All I´ve got to give to you
Are these five words when I

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn´t see
For parting my lips
When I couldn´t breathe

Thank you for loving me
When I couldn´t fly
Oh, you gave me wings
You parted my lips
When I couldn´t breathe
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me
Oh, for loving me.

BVLGARI Omnia

Received this Bulgari Omnia Purse Spray Collection that my husband gave me during the White Day of last year. It’s a travel sized bottle that includes a travel pouch and three Omnia fragrances–The Crystalline( sexy and light), Amethyste(feminine and elegant) and Green Jade( casual, fresh fragrance and my all-time favorite). Music Monday–Every Rose Has It’s Thorn

This song from POISON brings back some good memories from “the good old days”. Gosh, I miss those times!

We both lie silently still
in the dead of the night
Although we both lie close together
We feel miles apart inside

Was it something I said or something I did
Did my words not come out right
Though I tried not to hurt you
Though I tried
But I guess that’s why they say

Chorus:
Every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its thorn

Yeah it does

I listen to our favorite song
playing on the radio
Hear the DJ say loves a game of easy come and
easy go
But I wonder does he know
Has he ever felt like this
And I know that you’d be here right now
If I could have let you know somehow
I guess

Chorus

Though it’s been a while now
I can still feel so much pain
Like a knife that cuts you the wound heals
but the scar, that scar remains

Solo

I know I could have saved a love that night
If I’d known what to say
Instead of makin’ love
We both made our separate ways

But now I hear you found somebody new
and that I never meant that much to you
To hear that tears me up inside
And to see you cuts me like a knife
I guess

Chorus

Thank You, FAB Momma!

I’d like to thank Fab Momma Bambie of Azumi My Kawaii Princess Story for the gifts that she sent to my kids last Saturday–we were not at home when the package arrived coz we went to the bukid of tralala since Friday and when we came back at the apartment last Sunday evening, there was a notice left from the postoffice and received it next day. Music Monday–I Remember You

I spent my highschool days listening to Skid Row and hanging posters of Sebastian Bach on the wall of my bedroom–how nostalgic! ^_^

Woke up to the sound of pouring rain
The wind would whisper and I’d think of you
And all the tears you cried, that called my name
And when you needed me I came through

I paint a picture of the days gone by
When love went blind and you would make me see
I’d stare a lifetime into your eyes
So that I knew you were there for me
Time after time you were there for me

Remember yesterday – walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand – I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I’d wanna hear you say – I remember you

We spend the summer with the top rolled down
Wished ever after would be like this
You said I love you babe, without a sound
I said I’d give my life for just one kiss
I’d live for your smile and die for your kiss

Remember yesterday – walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand – I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I’d wanna hear you say – I remember you

We’ve had our share of hard times
But that’s the price we paid
And through it all we kept the promise that we made
I swear you’ll never be lonely

Woke up to the sound of pouring rain
Washed away a dream of you
But nothing else could ever take you away
‘Cause you’ll always be my dream come true
Oh my darling, I love you

Remember yesterday – walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand – I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I’d wanna hear you say – I remember you

Girl’s Talk—Stupid Love

During the first year of getting married, I wanted to change the wallpaper of our room with heart prints on but my husband won’t let me because of the budget and we don’t own the apartment and so I prepared anything with hearts which I guess the stupidest thing I did for love for my husband–heart shaped pancakes, heart shaped sandwiches, baked a cake with heart accents, kahit ano basta may heart lol! One day I created a heart bento ( lunch box ) for him–over his plain rice, I decorated a pink heart shape with the help of sakura denbu ( a sweet-salty pink furikake used for decorations in sushi rolls, not in the photo ) but to my dismay, my husband told me that he was ashamed coz he was with his fellow co-workers during lunch time and upon seeing the heart bento that I made for him, he turned over the rice so his co-workers won’t see it and so I stopped making such bento for him(T_T).
One time that we had a fight, I made something to make him really pissed off–I made the heart bento again!! I knew that he’ll turn over the rice with pink heart decor and what I did was pati ilalim nilagyan ko na para pag turn over nya sa kanin kita uli ang heart. He didn’t speak to me then when he went home lol!

Music monday–Barry White

This song is dedicated to my husband–he’s not a first but he’s my everything. Happy 9th Wedding Anniversary, babe!

(spoken)
We got it together didn’t we
We’ve definitely got our thing together, don’t we baby?
Isn’t that nice?
I mean really when you really sit and think about it
isn’t it really really nice?
I can easily feel myself sliping in more and more ways
in a simple world of my own
Nobody but you … and me
We got it together babe

My first, my last, my everything.
And the answer to all my dreams.
You’re my sun, my moon, my guiding star.
My kind of wonderful, that’s what you are

I know there’s only, only one like you.
There’s no way, they could have made two
You’re all I’m living for,
Your love I’ll keep for evermore,
You’re the first, you’re the last, my everything.

In you I’ve found so many things
A love so new only you could bring
Can’t you see if you,
You’ll make me feel this way.
You’re like a first morning dew on a brand new day.

I see so many way that I can love you,
Till the day I die.
You’re my reality, yet I’m lost in a dream.
You’re the first, the last, my everything

*** Instrumental ***

I know there’s only, only one like you.
There’s no way they could have made two.
Girl you’re my reality
But I’m lost in a dream
You’re the first, you’re the last, my everything

Music Monday–Sweet Surrender

How I have always loved this song from Bread! What a truly awesome band and I thank God for these classics ^_^

SWEET SURRENDER by BREAD
written by David Gates

Baby I’m through runnin’ it’s true
I’d be a fool to try to escape you
Maybe I’m beat but oh what a sweet surrender

You keep your rights, I’ll take your nights
No one can lose when we turn the lights out
Tastin’ defeat, lovin’ that sweet surrender

I’m givin’ up myself to you but I didn’t really lose at all
I gave the only love I’ve known and it never hurt me to fall

Now that it’s done, so glad you won
I know our lives have only begun now
No more retreat, only my sweet surrender

My family went to Tsuruga-jo Castle, Aizu-Wakamatsu during the Golden Week, 2009. I was amazed of what’s the inside of the castle since it was a first experience for me. Would love go back there again and try to experience the Tea Ceremony, but next time not on the Golden Week–flooding of people the time we went there(T_T)

Music Monday–What’s Forever For

An all time classic from England Dan and John Ford Coley. Oldies but goodies.

What’s Forever For

I’ve been looking at people
And how they change with the times
And lately all I’ve been seeing are people
Throwing love away and losing their minds

Or maybe it’s me that’s gone crazy
‘Cause I can’t understand why
All these people keep hurting each other
When good love is so hard to come by

So what’s the glory in living
Doesn’t anybody ever stay together anymore
And if love never lasts forever
Tell me what’s forever for

I’ve been listening to people
And they say love is the key
And it’s not my way to let them lead me astray
It’s only that I want to believe

But I see love-hungry people
Trying their best to survive
While in their hands is a dying romance
And they’re not even trying to keep it alive

So what’s the glory in living
Doesn’t anybody ever stay together anymore
And if love never lasts forever
Tell me what’s forever for

Girl’s Talk–Health Resolution

I dunno if I can keep this resolution that is hard to resist– my love for drinking alcohol. I have been drinking alcoholic drinks( sparkling wine, wine, beer, shochu, sake, cocktail, mixed drinks, you name it) and no matter how I  serve healthy dishes at the table and if I have alcoholic drinks in hand,  I tend to eat a lot and drink a lot!  I’m glad that we’re not living in with my beer-mate which is my MIL (we drink beer almost everyday before) and that my SIL gave 2 bottles of  Beaujolais wine on my birthday, then here comes the holiday, blah, blah, blah…I really have to cut-off my alcoholic drinks intake coz  my stomach is bloating like hell lol! Last year I promised  hubby to go on a diet and cut-off my drinking intake or else he would post my bulging tummy on his site(yukk!) but I guess it’s forgotten now(whew!). Now, I’ll grab the opportunity to make a lists of my health resolution for Girl’s Talk:

1:  Choose low calories alcoholic drinks ( who says I’m stopping?lol!) instead of the regular ones.

2:  Stick to only one can(350ml) for the night or nothing.

3:  One hour or more of brisk walking everyday.

4:  Avoid going into cafes that serves “morning sets” after the long walk. (my weakness)

5:  Eat balance food, no skipping meals.

6: Plan a long-term diet ( no crash diet please) let’s say, losing 1 kg every month for one year as a goal.

It’s only a short list and I dunno know if I can keep this but I’ll try it for myself starting today so good luck to me!^_^

Santa From The U.S.A.

A Santa came all the way from the US of A with lots of goodies and pressies for me and my family!! Thanks to Ate Rose, authors of Obstacles and Glories, Our Clan’s Marveling, Spice Up Your Life. A surprise came after the Christmas Day and my family was very happy to receive the gifts. Wakaba and Haruka received Barbie dolls, yours truly received Dana perfume collection, hubby received a drinking bottle ( it’s perfect coz he’s taking cold beverages to work )plus chocolates and candy cane from the Cottrill Family. The kids were ignorant over the candy cane coz it’s their first to see those candies and we displayed some of them on our Christmas tree ^_^ Thank you so much, Ate Rose! I want you to know that I feel lucky to have you in my life– not only because of the gifts, it’s because you’re so kind, after all the years that we’ve been friends, you haven’t change a bit. THANKS A TON FRIEND!!!\(^0^)/

Music Monday–Happy Christmas(War Is Over)

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Fukushima, Japan!

So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young

A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let’s hope it’s a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Christmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let’s stop all the fight
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let’s hope it’s a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
And what have we done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let’s hope it’s a good one
Without any fear
War is over over
If you want it
War is over

Merry Christmas!!

Ani-Vintage Peace, Joy & Love Pictures, Images and Photos

FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS, WE WISH YOU ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!!

Preparing For The Holiday

I’ve been pretty busy lately preparing for Christmas–ordered online a Christmas cake from Repaco Garden, waiting to be delivered on the eve, then done shopping (for my kids and pamangkins in the Phils), our lil Christmas tree was up with the help of my kids, Christmas greeting cards were sent and New Year postcards ready. My kids is now on school break–Haruka had a chicken pox a week before her last day at school and was at home since then, (she’s fine now, by the way). Wakaba is busy doing her homework even though she’s on school break( Japan school leaves homework to students to be done before the class resume) to be finished coz their Grandparents promised that they will pick the kids up for a sleep-over their home till the New Year (minus us)—they will go early to their Granny’s place then me and hubby have to do some general cleaning of our apartment before celebrating our New Year with them. If Wakaba finished her assignments early (they’re not as plenty as her homework on summer ), me and Yochan might then celebrate his birthday on the 30th without the kids^_^

Well anyway, I can’t publish a post on Kizuna that’s why I have to leave an update to my friends here–I dunno what’s happening but hope to fix ‘em up before having a blog leave for the holiday.
It is just a few days away to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a Blessed 2011!God Bless!

Music Monday–The Christmas Song

May the season of joy bring peace to you and your family. Wishing you a heartfelt Merry Christmas from all of us here at Music Monday^_^

THE CHRISTMAS SONG – Nat King Cole ft Natalie Cole
lyrics:
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping at your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,
Help to make the season bright,
Tiny tots with their eyes all a-glow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Santa’s on his way
He’s loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh,
And ev’ry mother’s child is gonna spy,
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I’m offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although it’s been said
Many times, Many ways
Merry Christmas to you.

[musical interlude]

And so I’m offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although it’s been said
Many times, Many ways
Merry Christmas to you.

Music Monday–It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Chrrismas Day is fast approaching and it’s time to share Christmas songs here at Music Monday from Andy Williams’ It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year. Enjoy!
May your holiday season be blessed with love, peace and joy ^_^

Andy Williams – It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

It’s the most wonderful time of the year
With the kids jingle belling
And everyone telling you “Be of good cheer”
It’s the most wonderful time of the year
It’s the hap-happiest season of all
With those holiday greetings and gay happy meetings
When friends come to call
It’s the hap- happiest season of all

There’ll be parties for hosting
Marshmallows for toasting
And caroling out in the snow
There’ll be scary ghost stories
And tales of the glories of
Christmases long, long ago

Special Invitation

I’ve been busy browsing online looking for a perfect gift for my husband on his birthday this December…..

an invitation from COACH….

….I got an idea!

…will let him buy for ME (again) instead! LOL!

Girl’s Talk–The “Us” Time

We both love spending our time minus the kids for sometimes and we both love to take a walk from our apartment to Iwaki Station (train station in Fukushima Prefecture)every now and then while our kids are at school during his day-off on a weekday and have a coffee break at Doutor ( they serve morning coffee sets– a choice of your sandwich plus coffee). First, we drop our kids at school before 9 AM and it’s a 40 minutes walk to Iwaki Station and so we have plenty of time to spend while we wait for the time and eat lunch somewhere then pick up the kids at school afterwards. This is what we mostly do on his day-off ^_^

I love dates with my husband! Leisurely hanging out, we hold hands and just become a “couple”. It’s awesome! ^_^

Music Monday–Baby I’m-A Want You

GREAT MUSIC ALWAYS FROM BREAD^_^

Baby, I’m-a want you
Baby, I’m-a need you
You the only one I care enough to hurt about
Maybe I’m-a crazy
But I just can’t live without…

Your lovin’ and affection
Givin’ me direction
Like a guiding light to help me through a darkest hour
Lately I’m a-prayin’
That you’ll always be a-stayin’ beside me

Used to be my life was just emotions passing by
Feeling all the while and never really knowing why…

Lately I’m a-prayin’
That you’ll always be a-stayin’ beside me.

Used to be my life was just emotions passing by
Then you came along and made me laugh
And made me cry…
You taught me why…

Baby, I’m-a want you
Baby, I’m-a need you

Oh, it took so long to find you, baby

Baby, I’m-a want you
Baby, I’m-a need you

Girl’s Talk–Eating Out At Steak Miya

Steak Miya is a favourite of ours on our lunch date while waiting for the kids at school during my husband’s day-off on a weekday. I highly recommend Steak Miya’s Week Day Lunch Menu. Photo above is a beef steak ( Miya’s sauce for my steak@714 yen ), menchi katsu ( deep fried ground pork ) served in a hot plate together with a plain rice but changed it for a yaki meshi ( fried rice, plus 150 yen) and we set it with drinks and soup for unlimited refills ( with additional charge of course ). Japanese family restaurants here usually offer drink bars such as softdrinks and even coffee and macchiatos. Same with soup bars–Steak Miya serves onion soup, corn potage and soups available for the day–all you have to do is get your glass for your drink and a cup for your soup for an extra charge. And because they’re unlimited cup servings, we usually get loaded with soups just before our order is served lol! So if you’re in the mood for good food tripping at an affordable price here in Japan, try to visit Steak Miya ^_^

Music Monday–Ai Shiteru

Can’t stop the tears from falling while watching this pv of Ken Hirai, so touching. It’s a theme song of the Japanese movie entitled Ghost ~Mouichido Dakishimetai~ starring Nanako Matsushima and Song Seung heon based from the movie Ghost that starred Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze. Hey, where are you?
Let me hear your voice
Even if my wish isn’t heard
I’ll keep screaming I love you

Hey, can you hear
My voice, my song?
My tears may not fall
But my whole body is crying

The day we met
In my eyes
You were shaped like love

I don’t care if my chest is shredded
And my heart is ripped out
I want to hold you
I want to touch your hair, your fingers, your cheeks
Your eyelashes, your lips one last time
Because my hands were surely made
Only to hold you

Hey, even if you
Lose your colour and become a dream
I won’t forget you, can’t erase you
You’re carved into my whole body

The day we became one
I followed your lips
As they formed the words “I love you”

I don’t care if my dreams are shredded and my love is taken away
I want to hold you
I want to take back your broken smile and lips I can’t touch
And warm them
I’ll catch you when you fall
Forever beautiful

I want to hold you just one more time
And say “I love you” and “I love you”
I want to touch your hair, your fingers, your cheeks
Your eyelashes, your lips one last time
Because my hands were surely made
Only to hold you

Hey, wherever you are
I can hear your voice
Until my wish is heard, until it comes true, I’ll keep screaming
I love you

Girl’s Talk–Accessories/Apparel Shopping

I’ve been picking up clothes here and there from malls most especially on good bargains and on clearance sale for my kids ( they’re growing up fast) but I don’t do much shopping on accessories and apparel for myself –I rarely buy stuffs for me ( my latest apparel shopping for the fall is here). I love wearing lots of burloloys when I was still single but not fond of using my accessories anymore although I only have a few of collection of them and now I’m only for wristwatches. My bulgari watch has been left on my wrist for a very long time and it’s a precious to me coz I bought it myself on my second salary when I was still working here in Japan–now with scratches but still a favourite^_^
I’ve been eyeing lately for a new Baby-G and herefor a change. Nagpaparamdam pa lang ako sa asawa ko wishing he’ll buy me one lol.

Girl’s Talk–Home Section Shopping

I love to go to Nitoriwhen buying stuffs at home most especially in the kitchen. When we moved here in our apartment most of our stuffs are from Nitori–not only that they’re affordable, their dinnerwares are simple and yet stylish. My favourite is a white squared dinner plate and salad plate for simplicity, they’re great for casual eating and food presentation. It never goes out of style ^_^ My other favourite is a couple of glass canister jars that I can see through to quickly grab what I need. Love ‘em for display and a good storage for pasta, sugar, flour, salt and potato starch.

You can buy the magazine for only 630 yen ^_^

English

I wonder how many things I can do
within the limited time.
My feelings are so [strong] that I can’t put them into words;
I wonder how much I can tell you

You erased the pain in my heart
that I always locked inside
And now I can smile
because you cried with me

Because I’m not alone,
because you’re protecting me,
I can become strong, I’m not afraid of anything anymore…
Time soothes,
it flows with the pain
The light of the day gently shines on me

The words that explain,
You don’t have to force yourself to smile
If there is something [you want me to do], I want you to call on me any time
When you’re tired, I’ll lend you my shoulder

No matter how strong you are,
there are times that you will sigh
When the loneliness & the heavy door
rise together, you can begin to move again

Because you’re not alone,
because I’m protecting you,
I thought that I’d like to see your smiling face
Time soothes,
it flows with the pain
The light of the day gently shines on you

Sometimes, people hurt others while getting hurt
Each of the dyed colors are different, but
I will go on living while I
create my own story
That’s why I will never, ever
give up…

You’re not alone
because I’m protecting you
I thought that I’d like to see your smiling face
Time soothes,
it flows with the pain
The light of the day gently shines on us

Music Monday–One Friend

This song of the late Dan Seals is dedicated to a friend that made me the happiest during our short vacation in the Philippines early this year. I hope to see her and her family for the next two years.

One Friend ~Dan Seals~
I always thought you were the best
I guess I always will.
I always felt that we were blessed,
And I feel that way, still.

Sometimes we took the hard road,
But we always saw it through.
If I had only one friend left,
I’d want it to be you.

Sometimes the world was on our side;
Sometimes it wasn’t fair.
Sometimes it gave a helping hand;
Sometimes we didn’t care.

‘Cause when we were together,
It made the dream come true.
If I had only one friend left,
I’d want it to be you.

Someone who understands me,
And knows me inside out.
And helps keep me together,
And believes without a doubt,

That I could move a mountain:
Someone to tell it to.
If I had only one friend left,
I’d want it to be you.

‘Cause when we were together,
It made the dream come true.
If I had only one friend left,
I’d want it to be you.

Someone who understands me,
And knows me inside out.
And helps keep me together,
And believes without a doubt,

That I could move a mountain:
Someone to tell it to.
If I had only one friend left,
I’d want it to be you.

As for my love of anime, watching Neon Genesis Evangelion way back is no exception. It’s the most unpredictable and controversial anime series of all time. I loved every piece of music of the anime most especially this song (english title: A Cruel Angel’s Thesis ) of Yoko Takahashi.

ZANKOKU NA TENSHI NO THESE lyrics By : Youko Takahashi

Zankoku na tenshi no you ni Shounen yo Shinwa ni nare
Aoi kaze ga ima Mune no doa o tataite mo
Watashi dake o tada mitsumete
Hohoenderu anata

Sotto fureru mono
Motomeru koto ni muchuu de
Unmei sae mada shiranai
Itaike na hitomi

Dakedo itsuka kizuku deshou?
Sono senaka ni wa
Haruka mirai mezase tame no
Hane ga aru koto

Zankoku na tenshi no These
Madobe kara yagate tobidatsu
Otobashiru atsui Pathos de
Omoide o uragiru nara

Kono sora o daite kagayaku
Shounen yo shinwa ni nare

Zutto nemutteru
Watashi no ai no yurikago
Anata dake ga yume no shisha ni

Sekaijuu no toki wo tomete

English Lyrics

Young boy, like a cruel angel’s thesis,
Live up to be a legend…

Even though clear blue winds
Beat on the door of my heart,
You just smile, looking straight at me
Too involved in yearning for
Something to hold on
The innocent eyes still no nothing of fate yet.

But someday you will notice
On those shoulders of your
There are strong wings
To guide you to the far future.

A cruel angel’s thesis
Will someday fly high from the window
If memories are betrayed by
The overflowing, burning pathos (emotions).
Young boy, shine like a legend,
Holding the sky in your arms.

The cradle of love that sleeps within me
There will be a morining that
A servant of dreams will come for you.
The moonlight shines on your thin neckline.
I’d stop time in this world
And lock it away for myself, but…

If there is any meaning
In the fate that pulled us together,
Then I am, yes, the Bible
That teaches you of freedom.

A cruel angel’s thesis
And then sorrow comes forth
When the shapes of the dreams you hold in your arms
Come to life within you.
Young boy, who shines brighter than anyone else,
Rise to become a legend.

People weave together love to create history
And so I live on,
Unable to become a goddess…

A cruel angel’s thesis
Will someday fly high from the window
If memories are betrayed by
The overflowing, burning pathos (feelings).
Young boy, shine like a legend,
Holding the sky in your arms.

Do you remember the day we first met?
I haven’t forgotten a single day that’s passed
I want to feel everything you had your eyes on
I looked up at the sky, are you there now watching over me? Tell me…

I’m missing you now
There’s so much I want to tell you
Oh, I miss you, I miss you
I sadly long for your presence
Where are you? Hold me
I’ll always be here

If I knew that we’d never see each other again
I would never have let go of your hand
If I had just cried and told you, “Stay with me”
Would you still be here, smiling beside me?

I’m missing you now
There’s so much I want you to hear
Oh, I miss you, I miss you
Tears flow as time just passes me by
Oh, I miss you, hold me close
I’ll always be thinking of you

Even if my destiny won’t change, I have something to tell you
“I want to go back…” to that day, that time, this one wish is all I need

I’m missing you now
There’s so much I want you to know
Oh, I miss you, I miss you
All I could do was wish it was all a dream
This heart of mine is still crying
I’ll always be thinking of you

Girl’s Talk—Book/s That Made Me Cry

I’d like to share a very timely book (nah, I’m not a bookworm and the book was purchased by my SIL ) that really made me cry. I have watched the documentary aired on TV and the story was later published as book that sold 400,00 copies here in Japan. Yomei Ikkagetsu No Hanayome ( April Bride ) is based on a true story of Chie Nagashima, a woman who died at the young age of 24 fighting a breast cancer and her boyfriend turned husband Taro. Chie works as an event companion and met Taro at a convention and became his girlfriend. Having been diagnosed with breast cancer, she disappears after telling her illness to him. But Taro tracks her down and swears to support her battle against cancer. Reading continously, a tears followed when Chie asked Taro ‘ Oppai no nai kanudyo de iino? Nande Chie wo erabu no?’ ( Why choose me? Your girlfriend don’t have breasts anymore? ) and then Taro replied ‘  Chie  nga Chie no mama nara sore de ii, Chie mo zutto kawaranai, orewa kawaranai, isshouni ganbarou ‘ ( I want you the way your are. For Chie is Chie. Same for me, I won’t change a thing. Let’s fight over the battle together ’ … sniff..sniff… My heart was heavy to the lines where Taro asked Chie ‘ What are you doing right now? ‘ and Chie answers ‘ I lived today’  . A simple line but for Chie BEING ALIVE IS A MIRACLE. Taro planned a wedding despite Chie only having one month to live and spent her remaining life with Taro.

Her message of the book is living inside my heart–just being able to live today is a great thing. Nevertheless, she don’t want young women die of breast cancer. She was taken by God but her ‘ I lived today’   leads young Japanese people (who have read the book, watched the documentary, movie ) for mammography check-ups.

I’ve Got My Eyes Only On You ( English Translation source )

I’ve got my eyes only on you.
Since the day we met – now and forever -
when you’re next to me, I don’t need anything else
Dream’s high tension
special driving date All of my wishes came true
on a gentle winter day,
on a shy, timid, special driving date.

Since it seemed to please you,
I quit using makeup
and carried a pager so you could reach me anywhere.

I got to know about cars
I even got to like soccer
I’m still a little hesitant, but
I’m set on following you for all my life.

Since the day we met – now and forever -
When you’re next to me, I don’t need anything else
Love’s high tension

Since you seemed to want me to,
I started heading straight home,
and I straightened out the rough way I used to talk.

Since it seemed to bother you,
I stopped talking on the phone for so long,
and got rid of all the easily-available guys

My hair and clothes aren’t eye-catching
Try my best at cooking, so…
I wish I could go to a party…
I even broke it off with that girl you didn’t like.

I’ve got my eyes only on you
I don’t smile like I used to.
I was so bad at it – spicy your mama
Now here I am just serving you tea
Dangerous High Tension

I’ve got my eyes only on you
And now there is no one else.
I want to live simply,
and be
your kind of woman!! Love power
Oh~
I’ve got my eyes only on you
Waiting alone in a room for two
Your smile is like a rose-colored chain
Go on!! Dreaming woman without dreams!! Oh~

WAHMaholic Designs

After asking Kaye to do a blog make-over for my outlet Kizuna I was very pleased of the outcome design of my site  and gained a lot of compliments from friends.  I decided to open my Brilliant Days ( that I have been keeping  at WordPress.com ) and I asked again her service. In less time, an awesome template from a brilliant Kaye!! She surprised me again with her works with class for the second time around! Not only that she made me a fabulous template, she also helped me build my new domain and always open for questions to a non-techie like me. Girl’s Talk—Pink And Me

Pink is one color that belongs to girls–it makes us so GIRLY, right girls?^_^ When I was still single, all of my belongings were in shades of pink. From Hello Kitty stuffs to wall paintings of my room. Now, I only wear or use pink stuffs as an accent like bags. Most of my bags are in the shades of pink.

A precious gift from a precious friend Niko I love to use ‘em every time the family is out having an outdoor fun. I soo love the flowery prints and it’s reversable ^_^

My rose scented pink heart shaped pillow was given by Bambie during my birthday —hugging ‘em really makes me feel comfortable^_^

And oh, just in case you’re wondering for new changes here at Brilliant Days, I owe it all to the brilliant Kaye of WAHMaholic Designs! She deserves a special mention here and so I’ll save a different post for her. I’ m soo happy!!\(^0^)/

Music Monday—Everything

Being a fan of MISIA, I can’t let a day pass without listening to her songs most especially Everything which is the theme song of Japanese evening drama Yamato Nadeshiko ( Perfect Woman )—I was instantly drawn into the drama! Nevertheless, MISIA’s powerful voice is absolutely incredible!

English and Romaji ( translation by Megchan )

Everything by MISIA

I met you by chance in the midst of passing time

It’s amazing, isn’t it? That such a miracle should be so close by

Still missing you, the time passes and I can’t see you

Slipping through the door, I remember once again

You laughing with that person

My beloved, please don’t make me sad

There are nights when I cry myself to sleep

Don’t look at the past, just look at me

You’re everything, you’re everything

I’m stronger than you think

I don’t want any kind lies

All I want is you

How long a time can be called forever?

I want to go with you far, far into the future

I want to peek at those days with you

My beloved, please hold me

Like you always do, in the midst of time’s tenderness

Hold my hand, look just at the present

You’re everything, you’re everything

Even if I’m apart from you

If we could see each other, I’d surely forgive you

Any night

You’re everything, you’re everything

I’m strong enough to dream of you

Now let’s change the power to love

Into courage

You’re everything, you’re everything

Even if I’m apart from you

If we could see each other, it would all disappear

Even the pain in my heart

You’re everything, you’re everything

I’m stronger than you think

I don’t want any kind lies

All I want is you

You’re everything…

Girl’s Talk–Black And Me

Black is timeless and stylish and it makes my appearance a lil bit slimmer ( lol ) and I guess I’ m more a winter color person. I love to mix-and-match my black outfits with bright colors or prints as an accent and I’ m into black-purple/lavender and black-pink combination recently. Black pairs well with many other colors, too ^_^

My new baby wanted a sister and I’ m enjoying my camera more although I dunno yet some of the tricks, techniques and hope to improve my skills in photography. I’m still learning and I enjoy when doing on-location and trips photography of my kids and family.

Girl’s Talk—Green And Me

I dunno if this green turtle neck gift from hubby suits me but it’s the only green that I have in my closet. I love greens in my surroundings though–our mother nature.  I can’t imagine a world without green in it.

I soo love this face powder from Agnes B ( it doesn’t look like you’re wearing a powder and yet radiant ) and I find the ‘ b. green ‘ stamp on it so cute! ^_^ It comes with a color pearl balls then you gonna mix it with a brush or a puff unto your face.

Music Monday—Secret Base~Kimi Ga Kureta Mono~

Zone was a four female band and has been categorized in a new genre known as bandol, a combination of band and idol here in Japan. Zone was officially disbanded year 2005 of April. It was their decision to disband although they are at their peak of success. Their band was simply too good! They are missed and loved…

English

I’ll never forget being with you at the end of summer
With our dreams of the future and big hopes
I believe that ten years later in August, we’ll meet again
Such great memories…

We met in a sudden instant at the intersection on the way home
And you called out to me, and said “Let’s go home together”
I was so bashful that I hid my face with my bag
But I was so very, very happy

Ah, the fireworks burst in the night sky so nicely, it kinda hurts
Ah, the wind flows by with the time

We had so many happy, fun adventures
Together in our secret base

I’ll never forget being with you at the end of summer
With our dreams of the future and big hopes
I believe that ten years later in August, we’ll meet again
I knew that, until the end, you were shouting
“Thank you” from the bottom of your heart
Farewell while smiling and holding back tears is so hard
Such grand memories…

Ah, summer break will end soon
Ah, I hope the sun and moon make friends

We had so many sad, lonely arguments
Together in our secret base

I knew that, until the end, you were shouting
“Thank you” from the bottom of your heart
Farewell while smiling and holding back tears is so hard
Such great memories…

Nothing can be done about your sudden transfer
I’ll write, and call
So don’t forget me
Forever, in our secret base

With you at the end of summer, we talked on and on
After the setting sun, we gazed at the stars
I’ll never forget the tear that flowed down your cheeks
I won’t forget
The way you waved to me until the very end
So let’s stay this way in our dreams, forever…

I’ll never forget being with you at the end of summer
With our dreams of the future and big hopes
I believe that ten years later in August, we’ll meet again
I knew that, until the end, you were shouting
“Thank you” from the bottom of your heart
Farewell while smiling and holding back tears is so hard
Such grand memories…

Scenic Sunday—Three Storied Pagoda

Originally built in 1712, the pagoda underwent three major repairs in 1801, 1812 and 1858. JIMON carvings may be seen engraved on it’s pillars, architraves and the likes. The end of rafters are ornamented with dragons carved in the full round. On the wooden siding walls are the sculptures of the sixteen RAKAN or Buddha’s disciples who attained Nirvana.

Music Monday—Makenaide ( Don't Give Up )

When I’m feeling stressed and feeling down spirited, the lyrics of this song from Zard makes my heart uplifting and lively. Sakai Izumi, the lead vocalist of the band Zard died 3 years ago..Wherever you are, I want to thank you for all your songs that touched my heart. I’ll never forget you!!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_aokQJux0k&fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0&hd=1&border=1]

Makenaide by ZARD ( English translation )

You must remember the excitement you feel
When your eyes suddenly meet
Keep shining like you did
In the pastel-coloured season
When I fell in love with you

Don’t give up, keep running
A little further, to the end
No matter how far apart we are
Our hearts are together
Chase your distant dreams

No matter what happens, I keep my face calm
And joke that it’ll all work out in the end
Dance with me tonight
And don’t forget that I still love
The way you are

Don’t give up, see
Your goals are getting closer
No matter how far apart we are
Our hearts are together
Feel my eyes on you

Don’t give up, keep running
A little further, to the end
No matter how far apart we are
Our hearts are together
Chase your distant dreams

Don’t give up, see
Your goals are getting closer
No matter how far apart we are
Our hearts are together
Feel my eyes on you

Of course the new technology is giving us the easy way to communicate but receiving a letter fresh from the mail box  makes me the happiest woman to be remembered that way! Old fashioned? Maybe yes ^_^

Girl's Talk—Emotionally

I’m afraid of making this entry coz I don’t post too much personal emotions ( except for what I feel about my kids and husband ) here at Kizuna most especially when I’m really, really down spirited. The thing is I don’t want to be seen as emotionally distraught—I am a softie, but I don’t want to be seen as one– gusto ko yung nagpipigil ng luha at ayokong ipakita. I think I’m emotionally unhealthy–hinde ako yung tipong nagsasalita ng marami. I don’t know why but I guess it’s just me.

There was a time that I was so emotional ( I guess hinde ko na talaga nakayanan ), I called a friend but asked her not to ask a question but just let her stay beside me while I was crying like river–after an hour, I feel a lil bit lighter in the inside. She didn’t ask, she cried for me,too but we didn’t had an emotional conversation but it’s enough for me to feel better knowing that she was there for me and faced tomorrow as if nothing happened. Thanked God for her..

It’s not all roses but those bothersome times won’t stay either. When it comes, let it pass. Tomorrow’s a new day.

A friend of mine told me that and I do believe so….Tomorrow’s a new day…

Girl's Talk–Spiritually

Prayer is humbly speaking to God– when we pray we should speak to God from our heart… I am not a perfect Christian— I don’t (can’t ) go to church every Sunday, I don’t( can’t ) make confessions, I don’t ( can’t ) receive the Holy Communion and there’s no church near us and I live in Japan where most people are Buddhist and or no religion at all. I believe that God can hear silent prayers said in our hearts at any time and any place. Will God forgive me for not being so religious at all??

I pray whenever my heart moves me to thank and praise God and pray not only when I have problems or my faith is being tested. But when I pray, I really mean what I said. I’m not a perfect Christian but I’m trying my best to live by His laws.

Girl's Talk—Financially

—Our 2nd bank is almost half full—

I love saving money for future use and of course, everytime my husband fart his 500 japanese yen fine deserves a drop in there lol! Me and my husband is saving 500 yen coins at least one coin a day or if ever we have a 500 yen coin as a change from purchases, we won’t spend it but rather drop them there to save. Our goal is to fill that 100,000 japanese yen can and go for a family trip–we don’t know yet where to go but at least we have saving goals. Photo below is what we saved for our plane ticket—we’re both dedicated to our goal, can’t believe that we saved more than we expected to our trip to the Philippines last January and even though it wasn’t enough for a JAL plane ticket, it really helped a lot.
Of course it’s not always saving money, we also treat ourselves occassionally like buying things to all our family needs but it’s also important to us that we do not go overboard financially. Monitoring your money is the key.

Do you save coins? How do you handle yourself financially? More here at

LUMIX G2 Double Zoom Lens Kit (Black)

—Panasonic DMC-G2W-K—

After a weeks of banging my head of what camera to purchase for a beginner like me that suits my needs, I finally got one! And no, I’m not going into pro lol! I wanted a better camera that has more ‘room of the zoom’ which my digital camera didn’t had that much ( but I thought it was enough to our needs to use before ), and it must be light in weight and has an option to capture video clips . To my friends, your advices helped a lot. Thank you soo much! You know who you are ^_^
Collecting various of brochures, test drives, looking for good designs and of course the price hunting from one store to another ain’t an easy decision-making most especially if you have a limited budget. I don’t wanna go overboard financially that’s why I set a budget to buy for my camera. However, I would still use my Canon IXY 930 IS digital camera for snapping quick photos ( it’s a x-mas gift from hubby last year and it ain’t bad at all in the first place– I just wanted more of the zoom that is ). My kids will be using my 4 years old camera Canon IXY 810 IS and they’re pretty excited of exploring the camera.
Photo above is my new baby—Panasonic DMC-G2W-K it’ll be used to my kids important events at school ( which is the main ), my family adventures and trips, to my husbands car racing practices and I guess the one that would always be missing in action is no other than me for I will be the one holding the camera. I’ll be exploring the camera as of now and I hope to capture candid photos of my family^_^

—BRAUN 750CC-3 for my husband—

Thanks to K’s Denki, from the original price of 96,800 japanese yen, ’twas 3,ooo yen less as discount ) I was able to buy my husband an electric shaver BRAUN Series 7 ( good timing,’twas on sale that day ) as a present for Father’s Day, on his Birthday and on Christmas Day this year. All in one LOL!

Girl’s Talk–What’s Inside My Bag

A little peek of what’s inside my bag—I change bags all the time depending of where I’m going and if I don’t get my stuffs ready before the day, I’m always into rush that sometimes a remote control is inside my bag! LOL!

My bag given by my friend Leony ganda used on our outdoor adventures Tumblers for our mugi cha ( roast barley drinks ), baseball cap for me and since my kids is very active, I always have extra shirts for them, chouchou’s for their ponytail, towel, bandaids, mosquito spray, baby muhi ( for mosquito bites ) and of course, a digital camera.

—My Poppy Tartan Groovy Coach Bag for casual use ( last year’s birthday present from hubby) —

Here’s what’s inside my bag: My wallet, Atrix hand lotion, comb, Benetton camera case with my Canon IXY 930 IS digital camera(x-mas gift from hubby), Agnes B Green (face powder), Schedule Planner, Ballpen, Hello Kitty Bandaid case ( with band aids of course), Maquillage ( lipgloss), BVLGARI purse with OMNIA spray collection ( I use Amethyste, Crystalline depending on the mood but I love the scent of Green Jade the most ) and a capsule for my allergy.

Girl’s Talk–Inside My Wallet

—My simple black Hiroko Koshino wallet ( gift from hubby )—
What’s inside my wallet: Aquamarine Passport( a year passport and just had a renewal), Maruto point card and Waon point and electronic cash card ( what I love about WAON is that while you shop you can earn points that can be converted into cash ), Famitan Card ( families with children living at Fukushima Prefecture only is eligible to receive this card and it is used to get discounts and services from participating shops in Fukushima Prefecture by presenting this card ), TOYS R US point card ( for some kiddie stuffs ), MisDO Club point card ( I’m a die-hard fan and earned a lot of points from Mister Donut ), NIMIUS stamp pointcard ( brand shopping ), Comme Ca Ism point card( Japan brand clothing ), Bikkuri Donkey stamp pointcard ( family restaurant ), Big Apple stamp pointcard ( hairsalon for my rebonds and trimming) and A.V.V. Michel Klein Paris pointcard ( my fave brand in clothing line).

Are you expecting credit cards here??Nahh!! I don’t have that ‘magical card’ lol! All I have inside my wallet aside from these pointcards (which is common here in Japan) is my health card ( used to hospitals for check-up ) and Eiju card ( permanent residency) and both cards are used as my identification card. ^_^

Girl's Talk– My Shower Loot

Taking a splunge over a warm bathe at the ofuro ( Japanese bathtub ) before bedtime is my another ME time and it takes me for 40 minutes or an hour soaking myself with the fragrance of Japanese bath crystals .They’re wonderful for taking away stress and for relaxing. I love laying down in the deep water covering my body while enjoying any kind of herb scents and at the same time taking care of my skin. But before jumping over the bath tub, I make sure to do some rituals like doing my facial wash and brushing my teeth at the bathroom sink then next with my hair care, shampooing my hair and then followed by a conditioner with Shiseido Tsubaki Shampoo and Conditioner (with tsubaki oil EX in a pump dispenser, photo above) –it makes my hair shinier and it smells darn good! After that scrubbing my body with Naive Body Wash then caring for my body with these body care goods (photo below ). I love the feeling of staying fresh every after bath ^_^

Girl’s Talk–Latest Picture Of My Off-Line Friends

My offline friends are Japanese and they’re the Mom of my kids classmates! And they don’t like to take photos of them not wearing make-ups lol! Kidding aside, they’re so kind of me and befriended me when I was new in the environment. Sometimes, we all go together at the nearest cafe shops ( of course with kids corner )while waiting for our kids to play. They love making crafts and sometimes invited me to come over to their house but I’m a shy, I sometimes refuse..

Girl's Talk—Friends At Work

—Myself and Mhela–

I’d like to introduce to everybody my closest friend during the time when I was still working as here in Japan and until now, we still call and tease each other. Her name is Mhela–a real comforter, really loves my masahe (lol) she who listens and always there during my ups and downs in life, our witness and chaperon on my dates with my husband and of course, my Bridesmaid on my wedding day. And guess what?? She got married 6 months later and invited me as one of the Secondary Sponsors on her wedding day. I can’t just say NO to her! ^_^ I call her Nanay and Tatay my Nanay and Tatay, too–that’s how we’re close to each other. I’m always invited as guest to their house whenever I’m staying in Manila for a week or two. I really love this ol’ friend of mine!
—Bridesmaid Mhela and Secondary Sponsor Ritchell on my Wedding Day—
Another friend of mine is Ritchell–we worked as merchandiser in Dumaguete and I am the living witness of their lovestory. I always take time to visit her at her house or at her working place and invite her for a talk when I’m in Dumaguete for a vacay. I’m missin’ her now…
—Meet my Childhood Friends—

My childhood friends is my neighbors–I remember that our fave thing to play is push cart racing around the airport area after the flight. I can’t believe we did that although it wasn’t bawal before. I don’t have photos of us in our childhood but here’s a photo of us, all grown up and I invited my childhood friends to be the witness of our exchange vows. Girl's Talk–Last Time I Pigged Out

—Pigging out also means supplying alcohol drinks into my system, Nama Shibori Kiwi Sour—

The last time I pigged out was going into a Yakiniku restaurant ( again! ) for two consecutive weeks in a month–our family usually goes out for yakiniku treats ( top notch quality and pricey meats ) at Za-Za once a month but this time we went to Gyu-Kaku twice coz there was a campaign goin’ on there and it’s still running up to May 5, 2010 ( to all my friends in Japan, don’t miss and grab the chance until Golden Week! ) We ordered pitoro, miso harami, kalbi, horumon, oxtongue, veggies, etc ( sorry, didn’t had the chance to picture all the food coz there’s a lot of people around us and the seat wasn’t private) but I’ve only had 2 glass of mixed drinks–nama shibori kiwi sour and nama shibori grapefruits sour (nama -shibori shochu based ( distilled drinks )) and of course, a heavy drinker like me doesn’t end there…we went to the nearest convenience store and bought some beer and popcorn and extended the party at home! It’s hard to have a drink outside then you have kids saying ‘ Ni hai made dake da yo!’ ( limit of two alcohol drinks only )LOL!

Wanna share your pigging out story??

Girl's Talk–First Food To Choose On A Buffet

The latest that we had our buffet was at Narita View Hotel ( a business hotel near Narita Airport ) the day after we arrived from our vacation in the Philippines. We arrived in the evening and we checked-in there, we choose to eat a morning breakfast buffet at the hotel’s restaurant the next morning and then checked-out after and went home in Fukushima. There was a lot of many delicious choices that we found in the morning on our breakfast table—western type of breakfast ( choices of bread, bacon, selection of egg preparation, etc ), japanese style breakfast ( salmon fish, natto (fermented beans) miso soup, curry rice, etc ), jams, coffee, milk, a selection of fruit juices and other beverages, selection of fresh fruits, veggie salad, soups, desserts ( cakes, soft cream, etc ) and a lot more! —Morning Breakfast Buffet—

Girl's Talk–Favorite Junk Food

I just can’t get enough of Calbee Jagarico Potato Sticks series because of it’s super crispiness and yet not too salty! They taste mostly like potato, not so greasy and my favorite flavour has a slightly hint of veggie salad ( Sarada, salad flavour ). A glass of iced cold cola is a perfect partner for potato sticks or chips. Ahh! I can’t help but finishing them all in one sitting! They have different kinds of flavours according to your snack craving satisfactions: Salad, Consomme, Carbonara, Jaga-Butter ( potato-butter ) and Cheese flavour.

Girl's Talk–Comfort Food

This is a typical ” mother’s taste” meal in Japan which I have learned from my Mother-in-law. You may find the recipe here It is served with a bowl of white rice and miso soup. I’m very much thankful to my Mother-In-Law who taught me how to cook when we were still living with them during our first year of marriage and now I am cooking them with my own family and it also became our family’s comfort food–it is called Nikujaga ( beef and potato stew ). If it is served on our table, expect an ” gohan okawari! ” ( more rice, please!) from Wakaba and Haruka! ^_^

Girl' s Talk: Describe Yourself as a Lover

I’ d describe myself as a playful, loyal, open-minded, loving, accepting and passionate.
No matter how distracted my husband could get for some ways, be it with some friends, cars, games, I know his world will always revolve around them.
I know it’s soo mababaw but a few sweet words and a hug from my back while I’m doing the dirty dishes, I’m all drawn to his!
I find happiness when we share the same ice cream cones or a box of chocolates.

I feel that even the smallest thing that he has done seems like the world to me.
I love to put smiles on his face that makes my heart really swell and put an even bigger grin on my face.
I love to colour his day with all those silly stuffs that for many reasons, made him laugh, sometimes get annoyed and often times makes him blush.
In short, I feel and do all the kabaduyan as a lover coz I’M SO IN LOVE WITH MY HUSBAND!now I’m shoutin’ that!(^0^)/

Girl’ s Talk–2010 Valentine’ s Day

We celebrated our Valentine’s Day at home!! My husband feels good after receiving chocolates from me and the kids! Why? It’ s because that here in Japan, Valentine’s Day is a men’s day and unlike any other countries, sending or giving Valentine’s card is not common. Give ‘em chocolates and you will be given pressies on White Day ( March 14, girls day ) in return!

Girl's Talk–My Firsts

It’s been awhile that I haven’t posted an entry for Girl’s Talk and I don’t want her to say something on our meeting and so I must have a post of all My Firsts here– all in one for this month lol! ^_^

My First Crush and First Date

I was on my highschool days when I met my first crush, Teofilo—he was a senior of me and I was in my junior and I know this might sound stupid but I really asked him out to be my partner during our Junior-Senior Proms Night. So stupid right? It was embarrasing, I was blushing and all that but he agreed to be my date–it was his first to be asked by a girl, he said. And so I asked a bakla friend of mine to do my make up and my hair done and even borrowed a cocktail dress for the special event to look perfect to his eyes! I was flying in ecstacy seeing him on his formal wear and walking towards me for a dance! My dear! It would be very difficult for me to get down to earth from cloud nine ( ang luma ko lol!) when we had our dance during the Prom night! He dropped me at home after the dance party on a pedicab ride and he was gentleman enough to held his hand and I smiled back…but all of a sudden the next thing that I remembered was my knees were bleeding–naipit ang heels ko sa butas ng bulok na pedicab! My first crush on my first date– I am all red and blushing…. with embarrasment! (T_T)

My First Kiss and My First Boyfriend

My first kiss was my first boyfriend, J–J was introduced to me by a friend during my highschool days and we saw each other almost everyday and time went on we started hanging out as friends then eventually he became my first boyfriend. He picks me up at school every morning and dropped me back at home after school and that is everyday! He’s close to my family and I’m close to his family, too. He invited me to go to a disco (OMG!Ang luma lol!)on a Friday night, we danced and enjoyed each other together with some of our friends. The weather wasn’t my bestfriend that time, the rain started to fall and decided to drop me back home using his motorcyle and we’re all wet. I was ready to go but he held me back and kissed me–it was my first kiss….and was amazing…
We dated for over 2 years and a half and just like any lovers, we had ups and downs. But the thing is he’s becoming more and more possessive–he had so many bawal to me. He doesn’t like me wearing shorts in public and sleeveles and or any sexy clothes. He’s jealoused to any guys that I talked to and finally decided to break the relationship. I needed some space to breathe…A months later, we talked as friends and told me that he’ll be going to America and finish his studies there. A year later I heard from a friend that he’s getting married and that his fiance’ is pregnant. My goodness!! Natatawa ako sa kagagahan ko dati lol!

Canon IXY Digital 930 IS

Just received a new digital camera from my husband as a Christmas gift ( I thought baby Santa won’ t show on Christmas Day because of the spreading H1N1 lol!) and was really glad to have a new one coz my old Canon IXY 810 IS has a lot of scratches at the body and have been fallen on the floor for how many times but was still surprised that it didn’t broke!

Canon IXUS 200/IXY 930 IS comes with a battery, battery charger, USB and AV cable, CD Rom software, and user manual. And of course, new camera must have a new camera case with my favorite color from Benetton^_^

Girl's Talk– Christmas Decoration

Girls Talk

We finally put up our simple Christmas tree last week with the help of Wakaba and Haruka–at first the motiff was only blue ( which is my fave color )but Wakaba insisted to put some pink ornaments to go with our not so big Christmas tree. And since we’re celebrating this time of the year, I also put up the cards that I received last year from friends and loved ones to our giant cork board which is Wakaba’ s art work display supposedly. I will put them back after Christmas time. There’ s still no gifts under the tree because Daddy will play Santa Claus for my kids and it’ s a Ssssshhh!!!

Girl’s Talk–Precious Gifts!

Every gift to me is precious most especially it’s given with someone you love–thinking about you on your special day, most especially friends who send their greetings and presents during my birthday. I have posted about them in my previous post here and here —I have cried buckets already reading my blogging friends sweet birthday posts for me, the video made especially for me by Bambie and her gifts–I was touched when I saw a smile sticker at the package. Yena and Mommy Seiko suprised me with flowers which I haven’ t received for years and received a lot of goodies and purse from Ate Rose. Thank you so much of all the thoughts!! It was the most memorable birthdays that has ever done for me with my friends! I have received a gift from my husband but it’s a secret ^_^
I’d like to share this champagne glass that has a very sentimental value for us coz we bought them together and promised to use them only on our Wedding Anniversary with Moet&Chandon Brut Imperial Champange at it’s best! ( I love the Rose though)
We will be celebrating our 8 years ( and counting!)Wedding Anniversary in the Philippines next year!

Girls' Talk– Chocolates

Our family loves chocolates and it should be from ROYCE’ !! You can never go wrong with Royce’ chocolates!! Feel that melt to your mouth and you will be heavenly delighted!! Royce’ is best chocolates that I ever tasted!! I love their Nama bitter choco ( fresh, raw ) and most especially their PotatoChip Chocolate. The sweet taste of the chocolate and the salty taste of the potato chips will make you think it’ s weird but believe me, it is very well-balanced that melts to your mouth! You can feel the crispiness in every C-R-U-N-C-H!! My husband is also quite picky when it comes to chocolates and very much delighted when I handed to him these simply sinful chocolate from Royce’ last year as Valentine’ s Day here in Japan.

Precious, new product from ROYCE’

Girl' s Talk–Fave Dress

Niko dearie’ s Girl’ s Talk meme every Thursday is talking about our favorite dress for todays topic — I don’ t wear much girly dresses, all I have are Tees and a couple of suits for formal wear ( and yes, I digged my files for this ). What I’ m showing off is my fave cotton Yukata—Yukata are most often worn during summer festivals and summer outings like watching fireworks here in Japan that’ s why I always look forward for some of the events during the summer. Yukata sets include with an obi ( sash ) and a pair of geta ( wooden clogs ) and it is becoming more fashionable by adding embellishments like chiffon ribbons, corsages that is applied to the obi and other accessories. But I want mine in a simple way. I just learned how to dress up my yukata this year. My MIL used to dressed me up but since we moved away from them now, I have to learn wearing the yukata all by myself. Here’ s some of my summer yukata dresses of my fave color!! ^_^

How about you? Share your fave dresses HERE Would love to hear from you!! Happy Thursday here at Girl’ s Talk!!^_^

Girl' s Talk–Shoes

I’ m not much into mules, high heeled shoes–No,no!! You won’ t see me wearing those shoes!! I can’ t run with my kids wearing with heels on! I’ m much into sporty sneakers of all time like Air Force 1 of Nike ( what I have now is dirty and rotten because I used them everyday lol!) and I love Chuck Taylor All Stars due to texture and unique design. No matter how many pairs of Nike I go through, there will always be a Chuck’ s on my feet in spirit! These two from Converse is a fave of mine.

How about you? Wanna talk about shoes? Share them here ^_^

Girl’ s Talk– Perfume

I bet this is the best meme of Niko ganda that GIRLS loves to talk about– girly things on earth! And for today’ s theme is all about PERFUMES!

I guess some of you gals have a signature scents and when I was still in my teens, I used to love Cool Water of David Off as my signature scent ( it was given as gift ) and when I started working here in Japan, I changed it to Poison of Christian Dior but when some of my co-workers started to use the same, I looked for a change and started collecting for more feminine fragnances. These are some of my perfume collections and I guess you have seen this perfumes on a TAG .It’ s not much but I love ‘em all!! They’ re Happy of Clinique, Allure and No 19 of Chanel, Chris:1947 limited edition of Christian Dior, Weekend of Burberry, Rush and Envy of Gucci. I change my fave scents depending on my mood now.

How about you? I’ m sure you love scents! Share them here ^_^

Girl's Talk– Bags

I’ m joining Niko of Girl’ s Rule! every Thursday fun meme and for today’s theme is all about Your Favorite BAGS— I think all girls loves bags! Who don’t? May it be a designer or non-designer bags, you can carry them with style and elegance. I’ m sure girls out there are excited to choose a perfect bags of her special day and for fashion.
I guess you have seen this bag before in a tag–I’ m more into sporty bags, I have 2 more from Nike but I’ m using this bag from Adidas everyday. COACH Hobo Bag
Authentic!!

This shoulder bag is from COACH and was given by my husband during the White Day as an advanced gift in exchange of my gift to him last Valentine’s Day . I wasn’ t expecting anything from him on White Day coz he planned of taking me at MISIA’ s Concert that time but he gave me this special gift before the concert!! I’ m not much into designer’ s bag but I love this small, pink Coach Hobo bag. It is simple and yet classy, it comes with a Coach tag and buckle latch ( I don’ t want the logo all over my bag and my husband knows that lol! ) This is now my favorite whenever we go out on special events.

How about you? I’ m sure you love bags! Share them here ^_^

Girl’ s Talk–I Love Me!

I’ m joining Niko of Girl’ s Rule! every Thursday fun meme and for today’s theme: I Love Me: Why you love being a Girl

Oh! I love being a girl!! I love staying on my pajamas in the morning with a cup of coffee in the weekends while watching Keroro Gunso anime, laughing at my husband’s bed hair and having two loving daughters surrounded me. I love waiting until the kids are all asleep and pulling out beer for Yochan and me. I love being the hostess and having a satisfied feeling after everyone has gone home. And here’ s more: A month ago, my husband has been thinking of that if one day Wakaba and Haruka won’ t want to kiss him anymore. My husband is right–eventually here in Japan, it won’ t be cool to kiss a Dad as they grow up but because I am a woman, I always get a shower of kisses and hugs at the end of the day! OH! It’ s great to be a girl!! (^0^)/

6 Unimportant Things That Make Me Happy

Received a tag from Chuchie of Chuchie’ s Hideaway and the simple rules is to list 6 unimportant things that can make you happy. This tag is all about those things that are not really important yet for some reasons, they bring happiness into our everyday lives that spending money for them is not a waste for they make us happy.
Thanks again, Chie I enjoyed making the tag! ^_^ I don’ t buy some of them but here’ s some lists of my unimportant things that can make me happy!

1: Honda Racing Caps — I have a passion of red caps and most of them are from Honda Racing ( same Honda racing caps but different faces ) and aside from the pictures, I still have 4 more honda red caps.

2: Gacha- gacha ( toy capsule )– I have a lot gacha-gacha and most of them are key chains, straps, tiny things that I love to hang all over my sling bag that made them heavy to carry lol!And oh, any idea on how to recycle an empty toy capsule? Anyone?

3: Perfume — I love scents and I can’ t get out leaving the house without a spray of my fave perfume.

4: My 5 years old sneaker — After having a ‘ hole disaster ‘ , I’ m still using my fave sneaker except for rainy days. Even if I have new one in my shoe rack, I can’ t help using my loyal sneaker.

5: T-shirts — same designs, different colors. Arrggg!!!

6: Unwanted Spam E- mails — I can’ t help myself opening spam emails most especially when the subject line is: ” A FULLER MORE BEAUTIFUL, SEXY BUST LINE WITHOUT UNCOMFORTABLE BRAS OR SURGERY ” or “INSTANTLY INCREASES YOUR BUSTLINE UP TO 2 FULL CUP SIZES ( I wanted 3 lol! ) or ” HELPING YOU ACHIEVE THE BREAST SIZE YOU WANT NATURALLY ” or ” BUST BOOSTER! ” I don’ t know why but they make me smile lol!(^0^)/
